Just the subject line.
Bug hasnt been fixed, even though there have been a few releases since it has been introduced.

Its simply no fun using comicrack that way.
Just now i added 10 files, and got 17. Great. 7 duplicates that cannot be removed in any way...

I've had this problem for months although i've only just been able to finally get the forums to accept an account so that I can post about it also. Hard to say if the latest version is still affected as the program crashes on all three of my computers it's being used on that run vista ultimate 64 bit edition, vista home 32 bit edition and also on windows xp professional 32 bit os's for me. I can't get it to scan without crashing with the newest version. It may be that I have so many comics it's trying to track although it's frustrating none the less.

Hi!

There were 2 other threads about the same bug.

I also have some experience now that might provide further insight about this bug:

Deleting items from the library just causes them to reappear.
(even if you delete both dupes, they will reappear twice).
But if you _rename_ both files using the "rename to name, number (year)" script, there is a good chance that only one will be renamed, while the other is left in the DB with the old name.

If you _then_ delete the old one, it will never reappear, even after renaming the remaining one back to the old name.

in about 3/4 of the cases, this works at the first try.

with over 42,000 comics being tracked in comicrack that is one excessive amount of work on my part to fix this bug. I definitely couldn't do that for all the duplicates that i see within my collection.

I can reproduce the duplicate entry addition behavior with manual additions. The problem explodes when I add e-Comics on a network share to my local library. Since I have auto-add scanning turned off, I don't see the duplicates re-added later though. I'd be glad to help you debug this, cYo.

Is it really that hard to understand?

You add file "series-number" to the library.
In the library, TWO entries "series-number" appear.
One works, the other one not (trying to select it wont do anything).
Even worse, when reading, it wont jump to the next chapter if there is a dupe of the current chapter in the list.

Trying to delete the dead one will cause it to reappear the next time you scan your comic folder.

You know, I've been reading comics since I was a cub, so there has been some brain damage for sure

Anyway, since I do not use libraries, I had not come through this bug... now I know it is there and I understand  what's is going on I will check.

Thanks

the whole point of ComicRack is using the library :)

On the bug:
What i would need is a step by step procedure on how to create a duplicate entry. Best way would be using an empty database, so there are no unknown preconditions...
