I have used Comicrack for almost 2 years now, and I have always used it in Windows 7. Now I upgraded to Windows 8, installed the program, the scripts, made my settings, and then I imported the library I have exported from the Windows 7 version. Till there, everything worked perfectly.

The problem is that then, when I added some comics, I began noticing something weird, most smartlists I use to arrange comics, doesn't update till I click on them... some of them even I need to "refresh" to update it with the new info... (from the comic books, not from the smartlist options)

Now I must mention I use smartlist A LOT, in a lot of very complex ways. I use many of them to help me find when a comic lacks something, or when something is not sorted, etc... Now and then, I have found in Windows 7 that when a smart list pointed to a folder, that pointed to more smarlist, that pointed to more folder... etc... I have to make some "refresh"es so that it update the lists... but now even simple smartlist doesn't update what they show till I click on them... (which is very frustratinh when I am using, for example, to view if there is any comic without format, name, etc... and I only click on them if there is a number next to the list...

I don't know if this is a problem with Windows 8, or just a coincidence... but I don't remember changing anything apart from that... Am I the only one having "refresh" problems with smartlist in windows 8?

I think this is not a problem of the Windows OS, but of the latest 0.9.171 build of ComicRack.

I have W8 too and now that you mention it I can tell that the same happens to me... So, one of the 2, like 600 says...

Exactly, smartlists do not update automatically anymore on my Win7 system since I installed 0.9.171.

Well, at least it is not only me...

It must be 0.9.171, I updated to it when I reinstalled the program.

Someone NOT having this problem using 0.9.171?

edit: I updated the topic name then...

This is a bug in 0.171 and will be fixed with the next version.
I built it in while fixing the missing counters in the sync dialog :(

Thanks!

And while you are at it, could you revise the autorefreshing algoritms to refresh properly smartlists who point to folders with smartlists in them?

Sometimes I have an smart list that looks for comics in a folder (which is a group of smartlist with random options) with specific values... and they work ok. But sometimes, for them to work properly I have to manually go to this folder and refresh manually its content or the smarlist which point to them doesn't work...

for example:

Folder "Marvel"
smartlist that looks for specific series
smartlist that looks for ultimate comics
smartlist that looks for "whatif" comics

out of this folder: smartlist that looks for comics in folder Marvel that are not read

This seems to happen only where the smartlist "web" of dependencies are complex, and there are many comics, many folders and many smartlists in play... (not with this kind of simple example). All the same I do keep in mind not using recursive smartlists dependencies...

ps: Thanks again for your great work with this software, and sorry for always bother you with this things XD

I am running v0.9.172 and I have noticed I have one smartlist that does not refresh (until I do "edit" and "apply") while others that refresh just fine.
Not quite sure what makes the non-refreshing smartlist different from the others.

It is not a OS-related problem, I used Win XP and I have noticed this problem too with the latest versions.
I've just installed .172, let's see if is has been solved.
