The title may be a wee bit cryptic, but here's how it works:

I have a smartlist called "Uncategorized" which pulls all comics not inside the "Reading Lists" folder.
From this smartlist, I filter by series in the browser, and click on "Duplicate Current List", and place it inside the folder being excluded from said smartlist.

The new list seems to be created correctly (ie all parameters are set correctly) but it's blank, and the "Uncategorized" list is also blank.

Opening the smartlist editor, it all seems correct.
Opening the text editor, however, the rules are different:
Name "All-New X-Men"
In [Uncategorized]
Match [Series] equals "All-New X-Men"

Shouldn't it be "In Library" - rather than Uncategorized? Manually changing it fixes the problem.
I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!

Duplicate lists refer the list duplicated. That is fine.
Maybe you run into some recursion error (referencing the list itself by putting it into a referenced folder)?

Makes sense for it to reference the list, I guess. Still seems odd that the 2 views gave 2 different rules. Not exactly a showstopper, though :-)
