I try to open comic book that I did buy in Humble bundle, but the file does not get loaded. I only get blank screen. On rack I have red X instead of cower of comic book. What could be the problem?
I have no problem opening the same file on Android with Moon reader

I am not familiar with how those files are delivered, but first thing to do is examine the contents of the file with an archive program . What is the file structure and what files are inside?

Indeed, can you open the file with the appropriate archive program.

Remember cbz files are only zip files with images (jpg, png, etc) inside...

So just copy the file to your pc, open it with winrar (for example) and see if you can see the images inside... If you cannot, it is not a CBZ file...

Now, if the problem is not that, try first opening directly with comicrack (not adding it to the library), if it opens there and not in the library, you are adding it wrong...

Remember files in the library are just links to the file, you cannot add them and then move the file...

The other thing it can be happening is that one of the images is corrupt... which comicrack is not very good at dealing with... again, open the file as a zip in your pc, and open EVERY file in your image viewer... if any of the images is not COMPLETE or doesn't open, that could be the problem

I did open file with 7-zip and it contains 2 folders
BSGDoA01
__MACOSX

First folder contains jpg images
Second (mac) contains
BSGDoA01
and thi folders contains files like that
._BSGDoA01_Page_01.jpg
In this folders all files are 1k in length
So basically the first folder contains real images.

So question remains, why ComicRack can not open this files?

ComicRack is designed to open very specific files. It is easy to confuse it if it isn't in the expected format.

So to clarify, this is just an archive with some mac folders for reference. What isn't clear is did you get loads o these individual files or was the whole bundle in one file?

Also what format is the file?

It seems to be in some kind of special format cbz... I don't know if comicrack is compatible with this kind of format...

Usually normal cbz files are just a zip with images inside... not thumbnails or different folders...

Edit:

I was talking nonsense, I tried adding folders and subfolders in a zip file, then rename to cbz and then open it in comicrack and it works perfectly... of course it open all images in folder abc sorting...

It mas be then as jk said some kind of folder formar thing I guess...

Try copying in windows the folder with the pages in a new folder, zipping it, then put cbz extension a try to open it in comicrack... if it works it is that... if not, then perhaps one of the images is corrupt?

I often deal with this kind of problem. It happens because a someone along the way used a Mac to make the CBZ and that thing is....quirky (you can think of a stronger word if you like). The solution for me is to delete the thumbnail folder __MACOSX (If you are unsure, make a backup copy of the file first). That folder comes first alphabetically, but its images are not readable by any viewer I use.

Yes the problem with the Mac compatible folder is usually in the file extensions used which confuse the issue. But more to the point, if a whole bundle has been delivered as a single cbz file I would not only delete the Mac folder but break up the file into at least trades, to make them manageable.

Best done by copying the bundle file and keeping the original somewhere safe, then de-archiving everything and making smaller archives with the files that you want in each book. While Comicrack can theoretically cope with quite large files, it isn't optimal.

Yes, If I delete __MACOSX, then comic rack reads comic book without problem. Is it possible to tell CR, that ignores __MACOSX folder?

I did find another thread, that states that this will be implemented in next version (5 years ago)
