Scan Information from Filename

Stonepaw told me how to update the 'Scanner tags from filename' script to get the scanner name into the newly introduced Scan Information field. All credit to Stonepaw for this... If you like the script, give him some good karma! Please also note that the original script was from our grand-daddy perezmu!! All hail perezmu..:cheer:

The new regex in version 0.5 onwards was created by the amazing "Webcomic Developer" Helmic.
Here is the script :

File Attachment:

File Name: ScanInform...crplugin
File Size:10 KB

How to use:
  • Just double-click the crplugin file to install it into ComicRack.
  • Select the book(s), whose scanner name you wish to import into the Scan Information field.
  • Right-click, and from the Automation menu, click at 'Scan Information From Filename'

  • Alternatively, select the desired books, and simply click at the icon on the browser toolbar:

Changelog v0.2: Support for some non-conventional scanner names. These include:
  • Jojo
  • YZ1
  • WildBlueZero
  • PeteThePIPster
  • clickwheel
  • Scalliwags
  • Dragonz

Changelog v0.3: Bugfix update, as the earlier version was not picking up Minutemen tags copmletely

Changelog v0.4: Added user definable individual scanners, user definable prefix, tweaked the regex a bit, progress bar.

Changelog v0.5: New regex by Helmic matches practically everything including individual scanners. As a result 0.5 is much faster than 0.4.

Changelog v0.6: Updated blacklist includes months, languages and other things added by LO, Matches that match pre-existing metadata are thrown out, Matches that are part of the series, title, or alternate series are thrown out, a user editable black list added and several other tweaks.

Changelog v0.7: Added an option for a tag to be entered when no scanner is found.

The script seems to work ok, but after installing this on two machines, Comicrack is now more unstable than i have seen before, crashing all the time.
Can the problem be some other script ?

I have installed it on both of my machines, and no problems so far.

Stonepaw will answer this better..:unsure:
However, I have almost all the scripts installed on one of my machines, and all seems well.

The only faults I've found with the script so far are that certain file name scan tags such as (YZ1) aren't picked up as he isn't part of a group.

I'm fine with this as his scans are generally awful..but perhaps there can be a something to do about it...an exception file or some such.

Yeah, but I would still want to mark those so they're easily replaceable if a better one becomes available.

BTW, if you see WildBlueZero scans, it's the same guy.

@Rincewind

I too have practically every script installed plus a couple custom ones and haven't experienced any instability from ComicRack.

What kind of instability are you talking about?

@Snout Spout and @RevQuixo

Could you post some examples so I can try and fine tune the regex? I never get the YZ1 or WildBlueZero ones.

@600WPMPO

You might want to put somewhere on the first post that the original script is by perezmu

@Stonepaw
For a while after i installed the script, comicrack kept crashing, even bringing down other programs when it crashed, don't know why, as the problem seems to have disepeared on both PC's.
So maybe some other odd thing happening, as everything now seems ok.
