Here's my first Comicrack script.

If the book is an Annual Format with Annual in the name it will remove " Annual" from the series name and optionally adjust the volume by subtracting the number.

So

Action Comics Annual V2012 #1 (Annual)
becomes
Action Comics V2011 #1 (Annual)

If you run comicvine scrapper on these books again it will overwrite any changes of course.

I always thought it was a bit odd that Annuals were in a whole other series.

Let me know what people think, or if any one other than myself will find this useful.

Looks good.

A tip to a new script developer. You can rename a .zip file to .crplugin so that the file can easily be installed with ComicRack's package manager. ;)

Renamed script extension to .crplugin.

Thanks for the tip.

Maybe this FAQ entry could be updated to mention the crplugin file extension too. I was following that for my packing info

Is there a list of all the ComicRack.App methods?

I'm just using notepad++ so no reflection tools available right now.

I'm looking for a method to display an alert or messagebox. Not ask a question which I already see.

I've made a CR Data Version of this script. You need CRData 1.0 for it to work.

Hey there. I was stumbling around the interwebs for a solution to this very problem and was happy to find your script. Haven't tried it yet but I was wondering about something. Your script puts the annual back into the series, but does it do anything about the order of the annual in relation to the other issues in a series? In other words...it seems that your script will put the annual in the series but either and the end of the issues or the beginning...not in between the issues that it was published. I suppose adding an issue number to it would suffice. If the annual came out after issue 12 and before 13 it could be numbered 12.5 and it would be listed where it belongs. Arrange by published is prolly another way. Then it's dependent upon the scraped data being correct rather than just the numbering.

Pretend I'm a noob. :) I'm sure I'm ignorant of a better way. Can someone throw some knowledge at me?

I leave the annual issue number alone and sort by published date.

You'll also have to make sure that the volume number for the annuals match the series volume number to get them all to show up under the same series. I setup rules in CR Data to do that.

Is it possible to do the opposite and actually add (or keep) Annual in the title? I find that by default ComicRack is removing the word "Annual" from the series title, but I don''t want it to. I asked about this a few years ago but got no response, but every now and then I search again for a solution and this thread came up so though it worth asking here.
