I've updated the OP with a new script and some details.

Multiple story arcs are now supported. Seems to work pretty slick if I do say so myself.

I seem to be doing something wrong. When I double click on the .crplugin file, the 'scripts' dialogue window in CRW pops up, but it doesn't show the script. Is there a way to manually unpack this?

Fixed.

I accidentally made it a RAR instead of a ZIP file.

And another minor edit. 0.3.1 posted to the OP

The new update is great & handles multiple story arcs well! :-)

+1 karma for all the good work (now featured in the ComicRack Bugle;) )

However, it needs some work to ignore brackets & hyphens. Examples follow:

Also, it would be great if we had an option for getting the story arcs through the Alternate Series field. There is indeed an 'alternate method' option in the initial dialog of the script. I tried it, but it didn't pull the story arcs from the Alternate Series fields.

I'll post an update today.

Do you think I could get you to update the icons? Maybe put a "1" overlayed on the current toolbar icon and another with a "*" ?

The alternate method has nothing to do with the "Alternate Series" field.

The normal method looks for "Part" in the title and then removes it and everything after it and then looks for matches. This works well for most titles.

But I had a couple books like this
Big Story Part 1
Part 2 of Big Story

So I made the alternate method. It just removes the string "Part" and leaves everything else the same. It can then match examples like the above.

As far as alternate series goes. I think what comicvine has is exactly what you would want for story arc on some comics. I didn't bother looking at it because you could always just use one of the copy/move field scripts to get that. Unless I hear a convince argument otherwise I'll keep this script just processing the Title.

OP update. Version 0.4 posted.

It should fix your bracket (just parenthesis) and hyphen issues you reported. I also noted some goofiness with case in your titles, specifically "One Thousand Opas ...". Title matching is now case-insensitive.

Enjoy.

Great script, using it a bunch. Wanted to chime in and let you know it has issues with Roman numerals.

Buffy Season 8
The Long Way Home, Part I
The Long Way Home, Part II
The Long Way Home, Part III
The Long Way Home, Part IV

Your script parses the story arc as "The Long Way Home, I".

Thanks!
