Versions:
github.com/adamhathcock/ComicRackWeb/downloads

Continuing on with my OData (comicrack.cyolito.com/forum/16-developer...-odata-for-comicrack) project lead me to trying a Web Viewer so that anything on the local network can view stuff.

I was going to use the OData stuff but it was actually easier not to. I've managed to host a web server in a plugin.

Things work similar to the OData project. You activate the host by clicking Start (you have to wait like 10 seconds for loading at the moment). When the stop button is active again the web host should be running.

The url should be just /Series like:
http://localhost:8080/Series

A list of all Series should be listed. Clicking on one should give the issues in that series. Then clicking on the issue a list of pages should be shown. Clicking on a page should display the page in a lightbox from lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2/ should be shown. There are keyboard bindings so the left and right arrows should work. Esc will close the box.

Everything is very basic (just raw URLs) and the lightbox isn't good for tablet/mobile viewing. I'm looking at upgrading this for myself at least.

Assuming you can see things, you can edit the cshtml pages yourself in the scripts directory to pretty things up.
0.2 uploaded - bitbucket.org/adamhathcock/comicrackweb/downloads

Added Stonepaw's awesome Photoswipe addition. Makes this thing useable on tablets.
Added Thumbnails for viewer
Added Publisher index
Added root index (e.g. http://localhost:8080/) that shows Publishers and Series
Added fix for exception that perezmu reported.

Things are still ugly but hopefully it works.
0.3 is up: bitbucket.org/adamhathcock/comicrackweb/...RackWeb.0.3.crplugin

New features:
-Smart Lists
-Publisher Icons (a bit ugly though)
-Bind to All Local IPs checkbox
-Back on all pages
-DarkSynopsis's revamp of the HTML. Works a lot better on ipad browser. Create a home button from the index page!!

Fixes:
-Faster loading of the web server when starting
-Added some null checks to prevent errors

Next:
Thinking about how to order list and keep items filtered by smart lists.
bitbucket.org/adamhathcock/comicrackweb/...RackWeb.0.4.crplugin

Updated to 0.4
-Added sorting on Issues listings. There is now "up" and "down" links on the column headers. I'm hoping someone will make them prettier and share with us :)
-Fixed issue with Series with same name but different volumes.
0.4.1
Bug fixes for previous release

Thanks for trying it. I hope it worked right :)

If you or anyone has anything that makes image browing look right for the ipad, I'm interested in ripping it off for this script. I'm still looking for stuff as I'm not much for web development or GUI design in general.

I'm looking at doing some searching and showing more detail on the items next.

It's working great on the PC..Safari doesn't seem to like navigating to the localhost URL on the ipad.

Don't have any advice on how to proceed, other than keep up the great work!

I got it to work on my iphone by binding to whatever your local IP is instead of localhost. Plus, double check that your Windows Firewall is disabled or allows the port you specify.

Great :D

Some suggestions/feature requests

  • Allow to browse by Publishers, smart lists and so on
  • Displays the icons from \Resources\Icons\ on listings

I can add publishers but lists are something that isn't exposed in the plugin API unfortunately. Also, I don't believe I can get access to icons but I'll give it a go.

No luck on a better HTML front because I'm not creative

Ok, it works, I can read comics from the iPad... :) ... Just need to write a better client :P

Now, I am getting this error message after I use it for a while (a few minutes, no more, and a couple of requests):

Warning: Spoiler! [ Click to expand ]

I wonder if someone else is getting this, since I am running comicrack under a rather bizarre configuration: It is running on Virtualbox with OSX-10 as host and Win7 as guest...

Wow this is really neat. :) Nice job Neep!

One feature that may be of use is a way to show if a comic is available or not. For example I keep the majority of my comics on a removable drive that is not always plugged in. When I tried this out that drive was not plugged in but those comics were in the list of comics and the images obviously failed to load.

Now to play with some css and html..
