Is it possible to retrieve the ComicVine series ID from a book that has been scraped with CV scraper?

I am working on a script to store information about comic book series and am looking for a unique series identifier.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

The scraper stores the comic ID, not the series ID. I guess you will need to query the ComicVine API with the comic ID (from the comic tag field, where the scraper stores it) to retrieve the series ID.

Thank you very much. I just took a deeper look at the CV API and it is indeed no big deal to retrieve the series ID if the book has been scraped and the issue ID is stored in the book tags.

BTW: I love the CV Scraper!

Will the ComicVine Scraper work with their new site format?

Probably not immediately, but now that you've made me aware of this, I'll be on it as quickly as I can after the changes go live. The biggest danger is if they make dramatic changes to their web API--that could take a while to fix. But they probably won't do that. :)

I'm hoping when they say "Better API filtering and sorts" it basically means they'll add crap like story arc, reviews and reading order type stuff to the application interface rather then retooling the whole scripting.

Although if CVS starts scraping story arc that will totally mess me up because I currently have all titles moved to story arc... I guess it's a good thing the scraper is super fast when you turn ratings off in case I have to redo my whole library....

** edit ** currently anything listed under story arc on the actual page goes in "alternate series", correct??

how do you turn ratings off? Just asking because sometimes the scraping process is rather slow.

SCRAPE_RATING

Older versions of Comic Vine Scraper used to scrape a piece of metadata called the "Rating" from the Comic Vine website. If you still want to scrape the Rating, you can re-enable this feature:

SCRAPE_RATING=TRUE

WARNING: scraping the Rating often causes Comic Vine Scraper to run very slowly. Enable this feature at your own risk!
