This was another great (& controversial) issue. I loved it. But many people hated it.

I am getting more & more convinced that the methodologies of Otto Octavius are way more productive than the ineffectual & whiny ones of Peter Parker. I just wish Parker stays dead forever.

What do you guys think?

It seems I've to look into this Superior thing (my usual reaction to the 100th Spider Man spin off is just ignorance).

I started reading ASM again just before issue 700, and, contrary to most "fanboys", I'm enjoying the Superior run. I don't think it will be permanent, the outcry of "Bring Peter back" is too great. Slott is receiving all sorts of hate because of it.
F*** it, it's a comic book. If it doesn't turn controversial, we may as well just read issues 1-50 of ASM over and OVER AND OVER.

I read all of ASM but haven't picked up Superior or Avenging since ASM 700. I was planning on waiting until they were about 12 issues into it but maybe I'll read it this weekend.

I'm currently reading ALL ASM and Im up to 1978 so far, Im finding the storylines a bit childish in general with a little bit of more mature themes now and again. On the other hand Superior is one of the best non Adult themed Superhero comics I've read in quite a while (Im thinking of stuff like The Boys). Its got a real shake-up and Im enjoying the batle between Pete and Doc as well as Docs struggle with morality of doing the right thing while still pursuing his ambitions. In a way I want Pete back, but the current storyline is just so good Im not in a hurry!!! Maybe they could put Pete back in the drivers seat with Doc in the back seat!

Now that you are re-reading ASM, what do you think about the many mistakes of Spider-man over the years?

Well....
Isnt that PP's charm?
He's human. like us...he makes mistakes, he's done things he regrets, maybe he's ashamed of.
not some square-jawed superhuman who always knows the right thing to do every time...

Thats why I always liked him anyway... just an ordinary joe who just happens to have super powers..

You are correct Steve, but as a human being (especially someone who tends to speak the words 'great responsibility' every issue), isn't it important that we learn from our mistakes & try to become better persons with time?

Slott didn't want to do it at all, editorial made him...but of course it ended up working out well because it made issue 9 all the worse when it did happen.

As for me, I'm loving every issue of Superior. Spider-Man has not had a better writer than Slott in a looong time.

For once, we agree.... for once! I never thought Shinrai & me could be on the same side of the opinion fence! :)
