Out of the many books that come with the 0-day packs, there are some books that I wish to read every week, as soon as I get & scrape them. So, I make a smart list called ' My Pull-list' and add my required series to it. As I keep adding more and more books to it, it becomes progressively longer. Example:

So, all the reading list users out there, is there any other, better, way to pull-out books belonging to some particular series without doing what you see me doing above (adding each series to a list)?

One thing you could try is giving all the books in these titles a new temp Genre value of say something like "Pull-list", and then just set the smart list to grab only books with "Pull-list". It still takes manual input from you, though this way it would keep your search criteria much simpler.
Depending on how much you don't want to do this manually every time you add new books, and only when you need to add new titles to the list, you could maybe even write a script that auto-starts every time you start ComicRack and it puts that new Genre value to every book in those titles that don't already have it. The script could store the list of titles in a simple config text file. This is more work up front, though it saves a few more manual steps down the road.

These are the best ideas I can think of since all your titles are all over the place and don't seem to follow a particular pattern.

I thought about this, but this requires too much manual effort (as you already said).

:cheer: Now, this is something I kinda think about, but don't know whether this is implementable or not.

A long time back, I requested a script: When-Then

At that time Stoney said that this was not possible, but now with the startup capabilities of the library organizer, and your idea above, I think it might just be possible.

I hope Stoney gives us his opinion on this.

Yes I could write this.

If I understand correctly on start up the script would give every book in the series from a list of series the tag Pull-list.

Using tag makes more sense then Genre in my opinion.

A big yes for both the statements. :)

Yeah, I still don't think Triggers and Actions are possible. I think cYo would have to do some major coding changes to the source app in order to get that kind of functionality. I think this is why you always have to hit "Apply" on a Smartlist after making a later change to it so that the change is viewable in the browser and also why the Scan Folders only works on either Startup or after a manual command.

Also, I agree Tags would probably be a better place than Genre, though I suggested Genre since the Tags field isn't stored in the local comic metadata.

Here you go. :)

This package adds three scripts to ComicRack
  • One runs on startup and adds the tag Pull-list to any comics in the series list
  • A script for the right click->Automation menu to add a series to the list
  • A configure script to manage the series list
Have fun!

:woohoo: :woohoo: That works great! Thanks Stoney!!

It is just perfect & so... complete. There are 3 scripts in one. All I can say is that you are a great developer & your karma is reflective of that!

p.s. An insignificant +1 karma gently entering your God particle....:)
