Here are my Smartlists, with a screenshot and my comments. I have organised them in separate groups. The attahched zip file contains all the smartlists inside their respective group folder. Take a look, probably you'll like a few ! :-)

COMIC STATUS

Complete Me

Sometimes I start reading a comic, but stop after viewing 4-5 pages. After getting an initial feel for the comic, sometimes I postpone it for a later moment. Such comics keep on getting accumulated, and become easy to track with this smartlist.

Never Read

Just modifying the default read percentage to less than 5, because I feel that in a 25-30 page comic, 5% amounts to 5-6 pages. Sometimes I just look at the first 2-3 pages to see how the comic looks like, so I guess this should be counted as 'Never Read'. 5-15 % definitely means that the comic is being read, and so it goes to the 'Complete me category' above.

Reading

A comic reader's most unfortunate moment is when he has to quit the comic somewhere midway (25-75 %). Now, this may be due to the fact that your family members may send you on some errand, or plainly because you don't like the comic. Can't do much about the former, but for the latter, I give a worst rating of 1 to the comic, and add this rule to the smartlist. This makes sure that you won't find the thrashed comics cluttering the 'Reading' smartlist.

Zero-day

For me, zero day lasts 7 days, as new comics keep getting added to the library over the week. Sometimes, a comic may be added to the library that has been published earlier than the 0-day period. To rule such comics out of the 0-day list, we add another rule, like "Year is 2010" or "Published is 2010".

QUICK COMIC SELECTOR

Indie Comics

Sometimes I get tired of all the supes and spandex, and like to read something different. That's where non-DC, non-Marvel titles come handy. Please note that the non-DC titles include vertigo.

Manga Reader

A simple one.. to get all the manga with one click.

WebComic Reader

Another simple one.. to get all the web comics fast.

Completed mini-series

Tricky, and won't work with people using the organise files & folders script. I add the word 'complete' to the name of a folder which contains a mini-series that is complete. So, when I feel like reading an entire unread mini-series from start to finish, I use this.

Non-DCP Non-Minutemen

DCP and Minutemen scans are considered the best scanners, but are late. So, if I need to find if some new DCP/minutemen scan of an already in-collection comic is available, I use this script. You can modify this script to find such scans for 0-day comics.

SFW / NSFW

How to find a comic in my collection that can be labeled SFW (Safe For Work).. these are comics with 'Explicit content' or T+ in the age ratings. They include comics with frontal (and more) nudity, like "The Boys" (one of my favorites), or the sleazy zenescope ones like "Grimm Fairy Tales" (ugh..), "Withblade" and the likes. I keep even some of the traditional comics like "Power girl" (her boobs are bigger than her head) in this category, as on a casual glance, an onlooker (colleague/family member) may mistake it for soft porn. Conversely, you can make a NSFW smartlist to read thee seemingly explicit comics in solitude.

Never Read [Today's Pick]

Sometimes, I can't make up my mind as to what to read, and instead let ComicRack make the decision for me. This script gives a random comic that I have never read.

Week of April 14 (temporary)

A temporary list, that I modify from time to time to get non-zero day comics added to the library in a single week.

ORGANISING

Bookmarks

A simple bookmarks smartlist to rapidly catch your bookmarked comics.

Cbr finder

This helps in getting all the cbrs together in the library, so that batch converting them to cbz is easy. Thanks to Stonepaw for telling this to me.

Comic-vine Scraper

This is another handy smartlist for quickly getting the files on which I need run comic-vine scraper. The minimal rule of CVS scraping is the presence of unspecified publisher. Also, as the CVS is not yet effective for manga or webcomics, a negative rule is also there.

Reviewed

You can skip this, as my views regarding comic reviews are in a minority. Whether you like it or not, I often read reviews, and sometimes capture the review webpage as jpg and add it at the end of the cbr/cbz. I then add a 'review' tag to the comic. So, this smartlist helps me know which of my comics have a review at the end.

SUPERHEROES

Deadpool / Wolverine

This one is simple. Too many deadpool/hulk/wolverine series out there ? Simply make a smartlist like this and get all the series of a particular character instantly.

Gotham City / Metropolis

Idea for a simple smartlist to get all the bat-related books. Similarly, a 'Metrolpolis' smartlist will fetch you all superman-related books. You can go on like this to make smartlists grouping your supes, e.g. OA/Coast city, (Green Lantern) Star City (Green Arrow) etc.

CROSSOVERS

Brightest day / Siege

Here are the smartlists for grouping currently ongoing crossovers.. Siege, and Brightest Day. Just make sure that the 'Alternate series' field is properly filled.

Hope you like it. That's all I can think of.. tell me of any other smartlists that I should not have missed..

Wow, I'm impressed! I particularly like the Never Read [Today's Pick] and Indie Comics lists. Great fodder for my current lists-in-progress project. Makes me wish I could see your library :D

Thanks for sharing!

Outstanding work, 600WPMPO. These would be a nice addition to the Wiki, to illustrate some examples of smartlist construction. I'm downloading these now and will put them to work.
... The failure to appreciate... is perfectly understandable, because the readership never evaluates old material in the context of the cultural climate in which it was created, or the state of the art at the time it was created.

Hello,

I just discovered ComicRack this morning and basically spent the whole day organizing my Ecomics with it - it's awesome ! :woohoo: :woohoo:

I am trying to understand how to make a smart list that would include issues from different volumes and/or series, all belonging to the same "saga".

Basic example would be for the Civil War saga. It's chronology includes issues from different series. What would be the smart list criteria ? Should I add a "saga" tag when I add an issue to my ComicRack library ?

For example, when adding Fantastic Four Vol.1 Issue #540, I add the tag "Civil War" and later use it as a criteria for my "Civil War Saga" smart list ?

Or is there something in the Comic Vine tagging (I use the wonderful Comic Vine script) that would allow me to set up a different criteria ?

I hope I make sense..

Cheers !

Ok, if I enter Civil War as a criteria for either the series, the title or (sweetness of Comic Vine) the Alternate Series, it does pull the right issues - I'm happy beyond description

Now I'm trying to figure out how to make Comic Rack organize these issues within the list, in a chronological order.. (I'm sure it's yet again a silly thing I have not noticed yet...)
