@ Halp: I would like to give it one more try..

Why not use a simple question mark (in the style that you have used for the format icons) over the background of this cover:

Do you have 600's pick without the bar and QR codes, Halp? I think that looks tremendous on it's own. Outstanding!
... The failure to appreciate... is perfectly understandable, because the readership never evaluates old material in the context of the cultural climate in which it was created, or the state of the art at the time it was created.

My contribution.

The thought process

Keys: comic, basic, universal, small thumbnail-icon like

Actions:

Background and looking glass = hinting to the ComicRack-logo

Basic characteristics of a comicbook :
cover, innerpages, backcover.

Characteristics of this 3 items :
cover and backcover all have that extra line near the edge (binding)
the backcover has that extra barcode (made it blurry)
innerpages are mostly 'layed-out' in panels

I left those 3 items white meaning blank, empty.

Didn't use a questionmark.
We know what we're looking for, the info-field (title, author, summary...) is already filled.
We only don't have the art yet.
So in my opinion a looking glass is a better option.

Topping it of with whipped cream.. i mean balloons another major characteristic.

And in avoiding you all become snowblind with all that white color..
a transparant layer as a reference that every comiccover as a glossy layer.
The comicstar shape of the layer meaning 'opening'/'not unknown'.. as stated we have the indicia, etc.., and off course .. this way it shows the other colors.

As a plus it's my creation not picked up from the net, I waive my digital rights to Cyo. My original painting will be auctioned at Christie's anyway.
