I've uploaded Comic Vine Scraper version 1.0.45. It contains fixes for the last two bugs reported by 600WPMPO and EvlAsh.

Thanks for those bug reports, guys. Please let me know if these fixes don't work for you, or if you see any more problems.

@EvlAsh: if you are setting custom covers on your fileless comic entries, make sure the "...except when they already have thumbnails" checkbox (in the settings dialog) is turned ON. Otherwise when you rescrape your comics, your custom cover images will all get replaced by default covers!

Ugh..something went wrong with the 45 install..I installed the package like I always do, copying over the existing install..but upon reboot the script doesn't appear to be installed (nothing is in the automation menu).

Comic Vine Scraper shows up as an installed script in the script packages, but it is the open box icon, missing author info and description.

Reinstalling doesn't help. :(

Well, it is working just fine for me.

Even the 'bug' I reported earlier seems to have been successfully fixed.

@RevQuixo: try re-downloading, restart computer, and then reinstall.

@RevQuixo: Any luck getting it to work?

I've run into the same problem a few times (I re-install the scraper a LOT.) But for me, reinstalling it again always solves the problem.

I imagine finding your comicrack data/scripts directory and deleting the Comic Vine Scraper directory would work too, though you'd loose all your cached series then.

Yeah it worked..sorry for not replying sooner, thought I did but guess I didn't save it.

Everything seems solid to me, kudos on the new features and bugfixes.

Well, I'm trying to avoid having that "cache" become a visible feature in the scraper, because it's really just a hack to get around a big stupid problem in the ComicVine API, and as soon as they fix that problem (I've been waiting for 2 years now), I plan to remove the cache altogether, as it will no longer be necessary.

However, if you want to back up your cache, it's really easy. Just go to the scripts directory where Comic Vine Scraper gets installed, and just make a copy of the "localCache" directory. You can always replace one localCache directory with another, or even merge two localCache directories into one, if you want to.

Using the preview pane for some time now, and I must say it is pretty stable.

Some of my observations (not suggestions, merely observations):

  • Both left-click and right-click work the same way, so any of them could be used.
  • It is not required to click at the arrows on the margins. Click anywhere on either side of the middle line (imaginary) to move left/right respectively.
Suggestions:
  • Till we get something useful to do with the right-click button ( ?zoom), we can disable this. So, shall we continue?
  • Should we narrow down the clickable zone to, say, 25% on either margin?

I guess this could safely be labelled as a stable release! :)

All thank cbanack for his constant dedication to the CVS project, and give him a generous +1 karma (like I am groping to do just now..... there!)

Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Better not to let people get used to right-clicking for that feature; they'll just be mad if I take that away later on. :P

I'm not sure what the benefit would be? As it is right now, it's a "bigger target" so it's less likely that the user will "miss" when trying to click one side or the other.
