No, you're right--that issue number (3.95) is stored in the cache. However, it is linked to the correct CVDB id, so if you had chosen that issue and scraped, it would have scraped properly (it would have had the right issue number, after it was entered in ComicVine).

There is a very long timeout on the cache, so the problem (where it displayed issue 3.95 in your "Show All Issues" dialog) would have eventually resolved itself--but not for long time. Months, or maybe even a year, I can't remember.

Perhaps I should look into making that happen a little sooner.

No.. this is not occasional. Almost all dates are incorrect.

Here is the flashpoint publishing dates as scraped from ComicVine..

All dates are 1-2 months ahead..

I am afraid that is not wrong.

Granted, there are many errors in Comicvine (not only dates, people too!). But the US comics have a "publication date" in their indicia is officially like two months ahead of the release date.

Cheers!

Yes perezmu, you are right. While I didn't notice that, but indeed this strange fact is true. Why is this so, is beyond me...:silly:

Everyone is talking about the new DC universe beginning August 31. And if you look at the date publishes(indicia), flashpoint #4 will occur in Early October. So, what use are these dates?

Pity we don't have a "Date Released' field in comic vine... Or do we?

Yeah, it is weird! But it seems that it has been like this for ages!

It goes back to the old days when comics where sold on News stands..if you put a future date on a an issue, it had a longer "shelf life"...Meaning the shopkeeper didn't pull it down as quickly because it looked like it was an out of date item.

Customers, after all, only want the newest issues.

i know it sounds silly
but is there any way to update the cover page too, not just information?
is there a script for this?

The scraper will add a cover page to "fileless" comic books (ones that only exist in the ComicRack database) but it does not ever change the pages in your actual comicbook files.

What problem are you trying to solve? I don't know of any script that lets you manipulate covers for your comics, but ComicRack itself has some tools for doing that sort of thing.

In Italy the date on the cover is the date up to when the newsagent should keep the publication, before sending it back as unsold...
if you ever entered a newsstand in Italy (dedicated comic books shops are rare) you will find tons of publications, not just comics. The thing is the distributors sends you everything they want, you don't pay (as newsagent) and pay only later what you have not sold... looks nice, but you have to keep track of each of these dates, otherwise you'll have the unsold ones on your shoulder... and believe me, this can easily slip out of your hands!

Just some folklore :-)
