Hey guys, I've just uploaded a new version of Comic Vine Scraper (1.0.49) to the plugin website.

This version has updated language packs, and it contains a couple of bug fixes, so it's worth updating if you've been using version 1.0.48.

This new version is stable, meaning that I think it is mostly bug-free. So if you've been waiting for that, your wait is over. :)

You're welcome!

Comic Vine finally made a few fixes to their web API, some things I asked for a long time ago. It really helped me make things more efficient.

Take a look at the SCRAPE_RATING feature described on this page:

code.google.com/p/comic-vine-scraper/wiki/AdvancedFeatures

You can use it to turn community ratings back on, if you want.

Be warned, however, that this will slow down the scraper quite a bit.

Thanks for the hint. The new "welcome" dialog drove me crazy :)

But another point: As community ratings greatly reduce the scraping speed (but I kinda like them), it would be cool to have some option to just add (or update) community ratings to already scraped comics. Such a pass would just update ratings and leave the rest alone and could run totally unattended.

Maybe profiles? :P

Well, I think you can get that behaviour just by clicking the "Select None" button in the data tab and setting SCRAPE_RATING=TRUE in the Advanced tab.

Then, the next day (or the next week, or month) when the scrape finishes just click "Select All" in the data tab and put SCRAPE_RATING=FALSE in the Advanced tab to go back to "normal" operation.

Does it need to be any easier than that? :)

So let me put on my User Experience Designer Hat and start counting clicks and keys :P

I thought more of something like the Library manager does: Allow me to define profiles and the settings like "just update ratings" or "overwrite everything" and let me select this one with one click.

Just an idea :)
