i'm also looking forward to this project.
Feature Request:
- is there a possibility to use the existing scrapers? e.g. ComicVine & FromDucks

As soon as there is a testable version available i will look into it.

I would think not only because right now ComixEd doesn't have a Python API. But we could add that and then tweak the scraper to work. I'd like that more than what I've put together in the app, as it doesn't have the sweet flow that ComicVineScraper has. :D

Anyone wanna make a youtube video on how to get this going on windows to maybe start tinkering with the code and maybe helping here and there.

I am willing to try, but time constraints to get this going are an issue... the video might push me into the right direction.

But then if I need a video I may not be the intended audience.

Hrm, I'm not much for videos like that. Mainly because they make it nearly impossible to search for the specific thing you're looking for.

From a time stand point, I'm a bit pressed currently. My wife and I just bought a new (to us) house and it's currently being renovated and a lot of our stuff is still packed away.

That said, what I'll try to do this week is put together some notes for the project. Something to point to the big architectural parts of the code and how they're designed to work together. That way we can have a searchable, updatable place to share those details with others.

Does that sound good?

Okay, sorry for the delay. We're now fully moved into our new house, and the painters have finished the insides so I now have a viable office to code in! :D

I've added a new file to the project to give some architectural hints on the application.

github.com/mcpierce/comixed/blob/develop/ARCHITECTURE.md

If this is missing any details, please let me know. And I look forward to people trickling in to help us make this more useful! :D

It would be nice if you could set up a way to allow existing comicrack plugins to function. I know that is a tall task but would be far better then having to either re-code the functionality or hope the devs update the code for this project.

Can someone provide the commands to build and run this?
If I do
mvn package
and run
java -jar target/comixed-app-0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar
, I get an error of
no main manifest attribute, in target/comixed-app-0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar

To start the app run it with:

mvn spring-boot:run

I’m away from my computer atm so will reply better in a bit if that doesn’t work.

Thank you for the reply. I have maven installed on a headless server, I'm trying to package the jar file to run on another system.

Oh, I see.

I haven't added the manifest to launch the code from a JAR yet. I created a new feature request for this [1] and will work on it this weekend when I'm not unpacking or doing house related stuff. B)
