that would be awesome. have a a super hungry comic rack option = massive cache and double ram usage (for tablets, etc which have way more memory)

or a clear cache button that is easily brought up.

(i think the reader is storing all the pages read in cache, so after 4-5 comics every second page is blurry) the more i read the worse every 2nd page gets until it is just choppy and pixelated

this is on a touchpad (1gb ram, dual core 1.3ghz) and my tegra samsung 10.1 also 1gb ram

I think you experience the behavior I've written a few posts above.

Actually ComicRack is using memory very conservatively. Depending on your library size it should never go over 30-40 MB. What you experience is the failure of the system to release the image resources.

A few questions:
What Android version?
If you have multiple devices (lets say a phone), does it show this behavior on all devices?
Does it make a difference if you turn off the page transition animations?

Its happening to me on a Toshiba AT100 (thrive). Running android 3.1. Will try without the page transition and report back.

My samsung galaxy has android 3.1

My touchpad HP has cyanogen mod 7

Both do it the same. I always have all animations turned off, doesnt make a difference. have tried everything. even with a small library 20 books it happens after reading 4-5

We are asking if you can make comicrack use MORE memory in RAM and cache so it works better?? or at least have an option to use more memory.

or clear cache or something while reading...? Droid viewer and picture viewer dont do this, what are they doing different?

But if it is happening on a touchpad modded, a samsung galaxy tab, and a toshiba thrive, it seems it is a universal problem across tablets

The max memory on tablet is 256MB heap. ComicRack already will try to get as much memory as it could. When blurry pages occur, there was actually an internal out of memory error.

But more memory would not solve the problem. This is a runaway phenomena. So with more memory you would get it after comic 7 or 8.

I do not know if this is a universal problem. This thread is populated by 2 people :/
Tried to update to 3.2?

As I already said, I had this problem in early development on my 3.0 tablet, but in the meantime it is gone for me.

Hmm. I had the default page transition enabled, and i turned it off. I then went through 14 books and i didn't had the blurry pages occur. I never managed to get through so many in a row without problems before.

3.1, and i don't have any upgrade path to 3.2 from the manufacturer at this point. Short of rooting the device, i can't upgrade.

This does not happen at all on a Galaxy Tab 7 (the first one) which only has 512Mb RAM and runs Android 2.2.
So I doubt it's a memory issue. Seems to be OS related.

I did some digging on this. I found this thread (@code.google.com):
Blurry images in all applications
where the posted examples show the same type of distortion i see, when i'm hit by this.

Also, mentioned in the above post, is this thread (@groups.google.com):
16MB Heap size
which seems to be the root problem.

Just some info.
