Whenever I try to sync, I get the error "an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" for each book that comicrack attempts to copy to my phone.

I have tried uninstalling comicrack on my phone and deleting the comics folder several times, but when I am able to get it to pair, it still provides the same error.

Right now, I am only able to usb sync.

I have a feeling this is due to a recent update of my phone to android 4.4.2, because it worked the day before the update.

I do have my comic library on my sd card, and I think in 4.4, apps are no longer capable of writing to the sd card, so this may be the cause, but the error message seems weird for that.

Does it work with the internal memory?

Anybody else having problems with 4.4 and SD cards?

Yeah, it syncs just fine after moving my library off of my sd card. I also had problems I think marking the books as read, since my progress synced when I did usb sync.

Anybody else having problems with 4.4 and SD cards?

The quick answer to your question is 'Yes, my new ComicRack installation is broken.'

I have just got a Samsung Galaxy TabPro 10.1 16Gb with Android 4.4.2. I installed CRA (full version), using the 32Gb microSD with the 20Gb comic collection from my old Galaxy Tab 2 (Android 4.2.2).

It was working well (great screen and very quick) until I tried to sync with CRW, but CRW would not detect the TabPro at all, either over WiFi or USB. I'm using CRW 0.9.175 and CRA 1.79.

After some experimentation I worked out the following:

- CRW will only detect the TabPro, whether over WiFi or USB, using the Pair Devices dialog or the IP address in Advanced Preferences, if the Main Comic Folder in CRA is on the TabPro's main storage. If the Main Comic Folder is on the SD card then the TabPro is never detected. I therefore couldn't even get to the point of trying to Sync.

- Deleting the Main Comic Folder, formatting the SD card, rebooting, remounting, makes no difference.

- You can't create a new Main Comic Folder from within CRA itself (pressing Create has no effect), you can only select an existing folder.

I think it is pretty obvious that Samsung has implemented the issues referenced by trmnl in its new tablets, so I suggest people steer clear of the TabPro (for now at least) if they want to use an SD Card.

Hope you manage to find a workaround.

I just updated my device (Samsung Galaxy S4) to kitkat 4.4.2 and now I'm experiencing the same issues as others in this thread. My ComicRack won't sync and it gives me the "an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" message. I don't know if there is a fix for this already, but if there is, It would be awesome if someone tells me.

I am having the same issue today after updating my Galaxy Note 10.1 to 4.4.2. I synced yesterday just fine, updated today and it gives that error. I do use an SD card to store my collection on my tablet.

Doing a quick search, looks like there are changes with SD access in KitKat...

The fix for this is to just move your comics to the dedicated comicrack folder in the SD card. That would be in /storage/extSDCard/Android/data/com.cyo.comicrack.viewer/files
