Recently I had problems with CR recognizing my comics (comicrack.cyolito.com/forum/8-help/16657)

It turns out CR could not recognize my old zip & rar files. Once I recompressed them, CR read them just fine. OK, but to solve that the process had to be automatic because I have (as probably everybody has) a very hierarchical comic folder structure. Doing that manually folder by folder was not an option. So I researched a little and came with a solution using Bulk Rename Command (Portable and Freeware) www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Download.php and Winrar (Trial and Installed) www.rarlabs.com/download.htm . There probably is a way to do it with 7-zip but since I have Winrar I worked with what I had.

First thing was convert everything from cbz and cbr to zip and rar

from the command line inside the Bulk Rename folder:
brc64 /dir:"d:\comics\" /pattern:"*.cbr" /recursive /fixedext:".rar" /execute
brc64 /dir:"d:\comics\" /pattern:"*.cbz" /recursive /fixedext:".zip" /execute

That is it, all renamed inside d:\comics\

Now the batch recompress

from the command line inside the winrar folder:

winrar cv -r d:\comics\*.zip

Once you execute that a window will pop up letting you choose your options. In the "Archive types" panel, be sure to mark zip, rar and rar2. Then mark the box "Delete the original archives". Finally press the button "Compression...", choose ZIP format and set the compression method and click "OK"

then do the same for the rars

winrar cv -r d:\comics\*.rar

Done, now let's rename everything back to CBZ

from the command line inside the Bulk Rename folder:
brc64 /dir:"d:\comics\" /pattern:"*.zip" /recursive /fixedext:".cbz" /execute
