TOPIC: The Organizer (1st edition)

The Organizer (1st edition) 3 years 3 months ago #40222

Following the guide, when I run the DataManager, it fails to add the DataManager.processed custom field to the books. This also means that they don't show up then in the Library Organizer smart list. Any help?

This show both the processed and unprocessed files. Datamanager smart list show only those files which already have comicvine_issue tag.

Here's a question for you, I used all your rules, following the Organizer guide, which was so god damn helpful FYI, but my Guardians of the Galaxy comics didn't get sorted by the data manager, any idea why?

It didn't add the Main Team, or change it to Marvel Cosmic

Probably the rule is missing from data manager.
Just add to datamanager manualy.

Thanks for the answer Dojoo, but that was the first thing I checked. The rule is there. It was one of the ones in the pack and reads:

<<Publisher.Is:Marvel>> <<Series.Contains:Guadians of the Galaxy>> => <<SeriesGroup.SetValue:Marvel Cosmic>> <<MainCharacterOrTeam.SetValue:Guadians of the Galaxy>>

But nope, not working at all. It's no huge deal, of course, just wondered if anyone would have a clue why it'd be broken?

if that's a copy/paste, then the title is misspelled. There's a missing r in Guardians.

That's fixed it. Might be worth noting then, that that's how it imported from the download pack, so other people should probably take a look before using it to do theirs :)

I was wondering - is there any way maybe to create a organizer wiki where mistakes can be found and corrected by users so that there is an always up to date datapack?
I realise that different people might have different preferences (e.g. universe yes/no, etc) however issues like "Guardians of the galaxy" could be handled for everybody and maybe we could have forks for different set-ups.

I said wondering at the beginning as I am not sure on the level of interest in such idea and the complexity it would actually involve

Interesting idea. Here is a couple quick suggestions.

1. Someone could host a dropbox(or the like) for everyone to upload their datafiles to.This would allow for quick saving and access of multiple rule sets to look at. The con would be having to wade through and deleting rules you don't want. It would probably be good for people just starting that are new to ComicRack.
2. Or there could be a google docs spreadsheet. Column A could be the series name(if not specific to a series could be left blank or none),B could be the name of the rule, column C could be the text of the rule and column D could be a comment field for more info/what the rule is used for. You could sort Column A alphabetically for all rules involved with a certain series that way people could just add at the bottom and not worry about organization. There would bound to be duplicates but that shouldn't matter to much. Or you could just Ctrl+F to search for keywords.
3. Or you could do the website wikia route. Could be sorted/linked multiple ways - have a webpage for each series/volume with a list of user added rules, specific users could have their own page with a list of rules, could have categories for rulesets with tag words linking to them.
