Hi,
if optimize comics is selected, does the sync take longer than if unchecked? I didn't know if there was any processing that would affect the total sync time.

Thanks! Great job on the app!

There is some processing in that large images are resized (without any noticeable loss of visual quality), but the bottleneck is the wireless transfer speed, so the overall operation will take roughly the same (perphaps a few more seconds). All the processing is done in CRW. The big improvement in terms of storage space on the device is well worth it, and there is really no point in having images larger than the resolution of the device anyway.

What are the values for the "optimisation"? Are the comics resized to 2048 (retina) or smaller?

In the Comicrack.ini there are several Sync and Optimize related settings that are commented out. I am unsure if the commented values represent the defaults, or are just example values:
; ------------------------------------------------------------------
; Sync Settings

; Creates prerendered Thumbnails for the portable device
; SyncCreateThumbnails = true

; Compression Quality (a neutral value would be ~75)
; SyncOptimizeQuality = 65

; This is the maximum height for optimized pages
; SyncOptimizeMaxHeight = 1500

; If true make a modest sharpening
; SyncOptimizeSharpen = false

; Number of books to convert ahead during sync
; SyncQueueLength = 50

; Timeout for Wifi sync requests
; SyncWifiTimeout = 60

; Count of read comics to keep in the list if "unread" is checked
; SyncKeepReadComics = 1

; This defines how much memory is kept free on devices
; FreeDeviceMemoryMB = 128

; override the method for resizing pages during sync optimization (valid are FastAndUgly, FastBilinear, FastBicubic, BilinearHQ, OpenGl, GdiPlus, GdiPlusHQ, BestQuality)
; SyncResampling = GdiPlus

As a rule of thumb, consider the values that are commented as the default. This applies to most (all?) software.

so if my Tablet has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 , i put 1920 into the "SyncOptimizeMaxHeight = 1500" field?

You can.
But this will gain you no big optimization.
Play around with the values.

Quick detour:
Why is 1500 the default?
On a 10 inch display 1500 height gives you about 190 dpi which should be well enough for reading (and even when double zoom in you are landing on computer monitor density).

The new crazy almost compression less HQ scans make no sense IMHO. You just get multiple pixels with the same color side by side.

Hi!
Can you explain:

; Creates prerendered Thumbnails for the portable device
; SyncCreateThumbnails = true

; Count of read comics to keep in the list if "unread" is checked
; SyncKeepReadComics = 1

Thanks! :)
