To clarify why I am such an advocate of Comic Glass. If you have your files in a Windows Share, an FTP server or SMB share, you can bookmark individual folders or the root folder in the program, and the app acts as if the files are downloaded. You can navigate to the files within the main interface, stream them, and when you get to the last page you can jump straight to the next book and continue reading. There is no need for a dedicated server, not even the dedicated Comic Glass Media Server that is usable with an in-app purchase if these other options don't work.

The negatives are that if you download the files, metadata isn't utilised, and the default settings are all based on Japanese preference, but these are mostly reconfigurable. Also it is not usually possible to stream when away from home, but downloading is always an option.

You can even use automatic page turns based on time or microphone input, which is ideal if you are busy in the kitchen, but also want to read.

Many websites that reviewed this app will claim it can't stream comics, but they are out of date reviews.

Well I think you could use ubooquity alone, you can navigate in the folders and stream your comics without have to download them, and actually there is one very beautiful theme.

Yes, that was kind of my point. Ubooquity is a web server, so there really isn't a lot of advantage to using an app, especially a paid app, unless it makes things easier. If you already have a browser with a full screen mode you may as well use that. If you are prepared to get your hands dirty you could probably write themes that serve the comics to you exactly the way you want.

Yes, it is exactly like that.
You can't change anything on the html, but if you know about css, you can make it like what you want.

We are closing in on iOS 11. Anyone have any new ideas on the best alternative organizer and reader? I've tried some of the others like Comic Zeal, YACReader and Glass, but nothing compares. Still holding out some hope that we get an upgrade.

Thanks.

This is honestly the first time I hesitate on upgrading my iPad. I REALLY do not want to lose what I have with ComicRack. I read all my books leveraging smart list and syncing only unread books. So far nothing can replace that. I really hope this is resolved and CRios does not die on the vine.

I updated to 11.

Won't be taken hostage by a single app.

Totally get that. I just hate to ultimately have to lose ComicRack after all this time. Hopefully, another app will come along sooner than later.

Nothing, nothing comes close to CR ability to sort everything out on PC and then just magically sync new, unread issues to iPad.
