Thank you.
We will continue to make the WiFi stuff more failsafe.

Anybody had any experience syncing remotely using a VPN? I am about to travel and I thought it would be nice to be able to connect my iPad via VPN back to my home network. I have DD-WRT installed on my router and got the VPN setup in just a few minutes.

From work, I was able to connect my iPad to home and check my IP and I was getting my home IP address when I checked icanhazip.com so I know I was connected.

I had CRW running at home and tried to connect via my iPad but it was no go. I was hesitant to try any of the steps in this thread, because it works without fail when I am actually on my network.

I was just curious if anyone has done this? The IP range I assigned to the VPN clients is in the same range as the Windows VM running CRW (it is virtualized on Ubuntu).

Hmm thought I would give a VPN a try myself and I'm having no luck either. Can ping my ipad but can't pair it even if I put the IP in the ini file. May need to know what type of connection is made. Is it a peer to peer connection for a start, or does CRW act as a server?

Wonder if this deserves a separate thread really.

CRIOS/CRA is the server.
TCP Port is 7614

I've read through couple other threads and it seems this multicasting support is an essential option that your wifi router must have...can anyone recommend a wifi router that has this support? I only have access to Linksys/Cisco, D-Link, Netgear, Asus and maybe some other that Amazon carries.

Or if your wireless sync is working flawless, what router are you using? I have a Netgear WNDR3700.

Thanks!

I would dispute that multi casting is important in this context. Can't see why it would make any difference at all.

Multicasting is only used for automatic device detection (and currently for initiating a sync from the device - but this will change in the future).

Ah well the multicasting issue is probably why we are having problems via VPN.

So is this a true issue? I can sync but I have to jump through hoops to do it. There is certainly an opportunity for improvement here to me and if multicasting support will solve that, then I will make the change if needed.

If multicast is not working (or not available), you've to set the device IP in comicrack.ini and you can only initiate a sync from CRW.
