I think crios will also weight in, but here's the situation.
The bug is basically fixed, but can not be currently published as ComicRack for iOS is currently in a transition phase for iOS 8 and iPhone support.

But crios can tell you more I guess.

This is absolutely wonderful news!

Can you - or crios comment on a ballpark timeline for the iOS 8 update? I mean are we talking two weeks? Three months? Six months?

I'm planning to release a new version to our beta-testers tomorrow. But I cannot promise that it will fix all your sync problems, it seems they are very device dependent.

Stay tuned,
crios

Hooray! Let me know if you need assistance. I've been having the problems and am a daily user of the app.

It would be great to have your crash logs. Please refer to this procedure on how to get them (in the section "Getting Crash Logs Without Xcode"):

developer.apple.com/library/ios/qa/qa1747/_index.html

Then email the ComicRack ones to

criosdev (at) gmail (dot) com

Thanks for your help!

This just started happening to me too. It has been fine for the last week, then all of a sudden it started crashing just after opening the app, (I hadn't synchronised for well over a week).

Noticed that there was an iOS update, which I did but this didn't fix the issue.

Re-installed the app and it didn't crash without a library synchronised.

Re-paired the device and synchronised my Library which consisted of 408 comics (2.59GB) and it crashed after opening the first comic. Restarted the app and it crashed almost immediately.

I'm going to attempt dropping the book count to under 50 as suggested above but as I do a lot of travelling, I tend to load up a large catalogue of books. 50 isn't really a viable number for the time I will be out of reach of my Library. Because of this I'll probably go back to using my 'droid until this is sorted, however, as a reading experience, I find that the iPad screen size is much better. So I'm hoping that the BETA testing for 1.0.16 goes swiftly and well.

iPad Air 2
iOS 8.1.2

EDIT: I've sent a batch of crash logs to the email mentioned too.

If enough people ask around for a better solution, someone will code one.

Products live and die by the amount of support they provide for the application's feature set. Once the degree of support allows features to fail, and thus the feature set decreases, that product loses its users.

I like CR, but it is a lot of program to make work on their end, and though awkward to use is still the best option right now. As a reader, it's fine. But if someone pops up a comic-centric management system that launches a third-party viewer, CR won't have things it's own way. There are other viewers that are awesome but lack decent management capabilities. If a new management system appears, CR may take a userbase hit.

I'm on Win7 and discovered that CR chokes to the point of requiring a reboot to remove it from the task list if you're dealing with too many files. You wouldn't think that'd be the case on quad-core box with 16GB of ram.

We'll see how the support thing goes.
Karma? LOL. Get a life. Worrying about website karma is similar to worrying about the weather conditions on the moon: Meaningless.
