I think at RAR probably still carries more cache than than zip too. Zip is like the AOL of compression. RAR files are "cooler"....although I always liked ACE files myself ;)

Not understanding at all how ZIP is like the AOL of compression. Also, what makes RAR cooler?

Maybe I'm just showing my age...back in the day, Zip was the "common" compression type...anyone who knew what they were doing used rar...and if you didn't use rar then you weren't in the know.

It was an attempt at humor mostly...

lol, the humor part I got, yet the underlining meaning I was missing. I wouldn't say you're showing your age per say, because I still prefer RAR over ZIP in a work environment. However for a simple archive of image files that usually tend to be less than a combined total size of 100MB, just don't see the benefit anymore for RAR other than it's just want some are use to using. Just my opinion of course.
Last Edit: 6 years 4 months ago by oraclexview.

There's no logic here...I was alluding to the fact that the 1337 hipsters from 15 years ago looked down on zip. Nothing more...and no factual data to back it up.

33.600? I wish!
31.200 on a good day! and more often 26.00, jeez the money I spent on phones bills on my Amiga!

My first modem was a Pace Linnet 1200/75, that 1.2k download and 75 BYTES upload speed!

I'm really feeling for you and those speeds. I'd probably be going bonkers if I was regulated to those speeds. Do you know if they plan on offering better speeds in your area anytime soon?

lol, hey, unfortunately some peeps still are stuck on those 25-years-ago speeds. Good to know that was back then and not now. Otherwise that would super 8 suck!
