My dream iPad App would be able to access my SQL database directly to view my database in whichever order I chose, and then allow me to stream the issue or individually download a local copy, much like Comic Glass but with database support.

Yes... ComicGlass is the best current solution, and I agree with jkthemac, ComicGlass with database support would be the dream solution.

Here is a link to the way ComicGlass serves your entire library if you want to take a look: comicglass.net/download/toolsdownload/

The comic database/organizer/reader program of the future should definitely incorporate something like this.

The best feature for me would be having the ability to limit memory usage, because I'm sick of comic readers that hog 1-4 GB of RAM, CDisplayEX and ComicRack included (unless I limit the memory).

If I may suggest something: there's already an open source comic reader: YacReader. www.yacreader.com/

It's not nearly as great as CR but it's still pretty good. Why not joining forces and help this project instead of reinventing the wheel? I'm not a dev and I don't know YacReader's dev but he sounds like a nice guy with way too much work on his hands. Open source is all about team work and it can be frustrating sometimes to see 10 devs doing 10 similar projects going nowhere for years when they could achieve 1 great piece of software working together.

I didn't realize YACReader was open source. It does have a lot of potential already.

Just a reiteration of what others have said:

-metadata scraping from some source
-syncing to mobile devices
-library organization

I would even make a suggestion to not even bother with ANY reader aspect to it. I'm sure I'm not alone in that for me, CR is primarily used for library management. When I'm reading, that is done on a tablet.

I agree. I do all my reading using CDisplay or HoneyView.

I also do my reading primarily on a tablet, but ComicRack, as an organizer, needs the built-in reader if only for previewing books, etc...

If it didn't have a built-in one, at least the titles could be hyperlinked in a way they would open the default cbz/cbr reader on your system.

I'd love to contribute. I have some UX and design skills to help with the project. I've been building mobile applications for many years and would love to be part of the effort!
