Thanks.
Found issue in newly implemented change.
Corrected in current version, 1.0.1
Yes.. it is working now! :)

I am using the windows 7 slideshow gadget for displaying the comic covers, but as you can see in the screenshot below, they do not completely fill the gadget.

I know this has nothing to do with the comicache software, but can you suggest a resolution that may allow the cover to completely fill the gadget? Or any other better gadget for this?

Well, lets think a minute here. From your screen shot, the cover fills the height of the gadget. The only way to keep the entire cover and completely fill the gadget is to stretch it width wise to fill it. That would destroy the height to width ratio. Kinda like watching a standard broadcast station stretched on 16x9 tv. I hate that distorted look. I don't think that would be good idea. There is another option to crop the cover to a certain height to width ratio. Would you want the top, center, or bottom? I think the best idea in this case is to find an image gadget that will fit to width the images it shows then scrolls. If I ever start writing gadgets I'll make one. :) JK. I'll see what I can find.

For your desktop background... see this page. Don't use resize in ComicCache in that case. Resize fills the background with black to keep the ratio. You shouldn't have to because the desktop background will do the resizing and stretching for you.

I wouldn't mind if it crops to the top..

Another 'bug': it doesn't recognize if all the comics are stored in the root folder (like C:\, D:\)

Interesting. I could not reproduce this issue.

Are you selecting the root through the selection button on the right or are typing your folder path in? If you are typing the path is, are there any spaces that don't belong? Is that an optical drive? You did notice that it says that the folder does not exist at the bottom and therefore the process does not run at all?

Thanks for the feedback.

Selecting through the button, not an optical drive..

See here that the files are not being generated..

Another problem is that when I add two folders, it says 'comic folder doesn't exist', while it works fine if only a single folder is added..

Fixed both problems in 1.0.2. Please verify. Plus added stretch option. Crop is coming soon.

+1 karma for the new version ;)

Working fine with only root drive folder selected, or more than one folders selected..!

However, stretch function is not working (infact, the resize function is not working entirely)

From the post it seems like the issue here is in the validity check. You haven't given the Resize a size to resize to. You should choose Screen Size, Common, or Custom size to resize the cover to. I'll check for that in the future. I'll wait till I finish the crop function.

Your wait is over. New version with the corrected validation and the cropping is posted. I have also included the option to choose a different background color and image. Enjoy.
