I tried to find some technical specs about the ComicInfo.xml, but only found a FAQ entry about how ComicRack internally handles it.

What I'm looking for is something like a XML schema or Document Type Definition (DTD) which describes which elements can appear when and what their meaning is. Is there such a thing?

I've been developing the Java comic viewer Jomic for a while, and thought about adding a sensible metadata feature to it since the beginning. However, without support from other viewers there would have been not much point to it. Now that some reasonably popular viewer seems to be doing the right thing, I'd gladly jump the bandwagon. ;)

Great, thanks! :woohoo:

Java isn't all nuts and berries either, its various imaging API's are a mess and you have to be very careful not to screw up performance. :X

I've posted the schema definition in the Downloads/Support category.
I know it is not pretty, but it is all there currently is :) . It is rather stable. no big changes in the last year (maybe the addition of some new element).
As you can see it was designed to be compact, small and simple. No fancy attributes, just simple plain XML elements to keep parsing simple and the file very human readable.

It's always a mess when you try to optimize. But you got your mac version :) , and I don't.

Thanks, exactly what I've been looking for. Clean, simple, no fuzz.

Cyo

Are your drop downs created from the xml schema?
Can we change the tag names and the menu items (series, etc) will change? Is it possible to add tags and thus add new fields? Will they be presented in the interface somewhere?

Thanks

drop down default values are stored in DefaultComicFormats.txt and DefaultComicGenres.txt. These files can also be edited to add new and better defaults (anyone? :P)

The drop down values are generated with these and all the values found in the library.

Hello,

I could not find the schema of the ComicInfo.xml file in the download section anymore. Could you please indicate me where I can find that information because all my google searches systematically point to that place :(

Thank
