I wanted to move my library from one computer to another. I normally keep all my .cbr files in an external drive, but I wanted to move it all onto a new computer entirely, without losing my organization.

I tried moving just the files onto my new computer, and installing ComicRack, but I got all my comics with none of the titles or other info I had added (like 1500 or so comic files, it took me a while.)

How would I go about moving my library to this new computer, without losing my library info?

I tried exporting my library, but all of the comic files don't know how to redirect to the actual comic files.

After exporting and importing your DB, you could try adding the path on the new machine to the "Book Folders" section under preferences in ComicRack and then tell it to "Scan Book Folders" to see if it resolves missing path issues.

Personally, I think the "easiest", or at least the quickest way is to copy the DB file to the new machine from the old machine and edit it with something to fix the path. I know it works, I use an external drive to sync and run the same DB on 3 unconnected machines.

If you're on Windows 7 the DB file is likely located here...

C:\Users\youruser\AppData\Roaming\cYo\ComicRack\

If you're on Windows XP the DB is likely located here...

C:\Documents and Settings\youruser\Application Data\cYo\ComicRack\

i used cbr with recovery record, they dont "save" my info inside them. :S

anyway is there any way to copy just one data, not entire library? and then easily restore to other computer?
or can i copy them from comicdb.xml? what if i insert same(double) comic info?

The most future-proof way to get the data to the new computer would be exporting the cbrs to cbz (or cb7) and store the comic book info with the files:
With the old computer:
- Make sure you have Preferences / Advanced / Allow writing of Book info into files enabled.
- Select all the comics, right click and select Export Books / Convert to CBZ. Converting takes time especially if the old pc is really old one...

To get your lists & folders and your reading statuses copied also, you should copy the comicdb.xml file to the new computer.

Thanks for this, installed CRW on a new PC, copied over the cYo folder and everything worked identically. Super. The fact that the path to the library is the same on the old/new PC helped out.
