as the title says im going to buy a tablet to read my comics on but have a question.

i use my pc to read my comics and wanna buy a tablet to lay on my bed reading my comics but don't wanna for out over £100 for a tablet incase i don't use it much so instead im gonna buy a cheaper tablet and see how it goes and if i get the use out of it then i will upgrade.

My question is i don't know anything about tablet and wanna know is there a particular softawre or component i need my tablet to have to ensure it will handle CR or will any tablet do the job.

thanks

To get a tablet for this price, the only chance you have is to get a low-quality tablet from China. Try banggod.com, aliexpress.com, geekbuying.com or dx.com

I would recommend an Nvidia Shield Tablet K1. I got mine for 174€ in Germany in an Amazon Warehouse Deal. It has a MicroSD card slot, which may be what you want to your collection.

One note: It may be better to go for a tablet with a 4:3 format, rather than a 16:9 format (my Nvidia Shield has 16:9), since that is nicer for reading.

In my own experience 7" size didn't cut it. Android didn't cut it, I spent the cash and got a 12" surface pro 3 after the pro 4 was released for around 300 GBP. Yes it's expensive for a comic reader but the experience is a mixture between decent and amazing depending on how I use it, I'm talking about comics over the internet vs local download and reading experience.

It also is a full windows 10 machine that is highly portable and fairly powerful. I do not regret buying it and I read more comics because of it. I'm still looking for perfection but this will most definitely do for now.

Well, fergie2199 was talking about a sub £100 device...

Of course, for comics, the bigger, the better :)

I know you are asking about a budget device, but here's my experience...

A 7" tablet is just too small, you will spend all your time zooming in and out trying to read tiny speech bubbles.

I bought the original Samsung Tab 10.1, but even that involved too much squinting, and I have 20/20 vision.

So once the Samsung Tab Pro 12.1 came out I shopped around for the best deal, and still paid a tidy sum, but I have zero regrets. The visible screen is exactly the same size as a standard US comic (I am British). It works like a charm. I read everything on it all the time. It's better than any PC screen.

I run CR database on a PC for my whole collection, and just sync the tablet over wifi with my current unread reading list items.

Until someone brings out another 12" Android tablet, I would only consider replacing my tab with a replacement of the same model.

Go for it. Take it from someone who has read over 18,000 comics in his life, you will not regret the investment.

One to try that has gotten pretty solid reviews as far as I can tell and goes for $150 US is the "10.6'' Fusion5 108 with the following specs:

  • Android 5.1 Lollipop Tablet PC
  • CPU A83T, Cortex-A7, Octa core, 1.8GHz
  • GPU PowerVR SGX544
  • Display 10.6-inch TFT LCD Resolution 1366*768 Pixels IPS Screen LCD
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB Storage
  • 2MP front and 5MP rear Camera with AutoFocus
Looks like great specs and reviews for that price point.

Not everything, but enough to to make rereading not worthwhile. Finding DC Rebirth to be promising so far... having read DC since the first Crisis, the reintroduction of more legacy related story features is an improvement.
