Is there a way to recover a corrupted ComicDb.xml ? I think I know the answer but there were 145,000 comics in here... I always convert to CBR and store the ComicInfo.xml inside the file, but that doesn't seem to hold the contents of the TAG field, which is where the CVDB, and sorting related keys were kept.

:( :( :( :(

when was the last time you did a backup?

And check to see if there is a .BAK file in the directory. It might be able to be used to restore your info. If it is a different file size than .xml, copy it to another directory, then rename .bak to .xml.

3 years. :( 80,000 books ago.

Yeah, I checked for a .bak file and there was only one the same size as the newly created ComicDb.xml.

I don't understand why the ComicInfo.xml doesn't keep ALL the metadata about a book. Even if it had the tags and date added, I'd feel much better about recreating all my filtering.

Thanks anyway.

(And yeah, despite this nothing else even comes to being as useful or powerful as ComicRack. Best software purchase I ever made - that and WinZip :) )

Sadly, it might be lost. I recommend either using the Backup plug-in or Creating an SQL database.

Yeah I've gone back to the 2014 db backup and installed the backup plugin so this doesnt happen again. I'm taking this as a chance to rethink structure and clean my metadata. Thanks again for the feedback.

This will not recover your custom data, but at least it will repopulate the custom values of comicvine scraper without having to rescrap them again (which can take a lot of time)

comicrack.cyolito.com/forum/13-scripts/3...-not-so-beta-anymore

Just select all your comics and search for missing comics with my last database file, it will autocomplete the volume and issue comicvine data automatically in seconds.

Your problem remind me to work in my project to make an script that store the non saved data in the notes...
