Hey guys... I'm looking for a script that will copy the filename to an info-field. For example move the filename to "scan information" (to preserve scanner details). Can anyone recommend a script that does this? I have the copy/move field script, but it doesn't look like it will do the filename.

Thanks for the help.

There are scripts that read info from the filename and populate fields according to that (you make the rules)

search for example the P.R.I.T. script :)

You can also use dbMan rule to copy original filename to any custom field.
After that you can use smartlist with SameXdifferentY script. This allows you to find duplicates based on filename even before running CV B)

Thanks for the replies, guys. What is dbman rule? A search for this turns up nothing. I also get no search results for p.r.i.t. but I will browse around for it manually.

dbMan is my shortcut for data manager, sorry ;p You can use it to create rules to manipulate data in your whole comic database/library.

I'm not sure about p.r.i.t, maybe Xelloss meant priat? You can find it in script section on this forum.

Thanks again... I think those are both overkill for what I am trying to do, and probably too complicated for me. There may not be a script for what I am looking for... just copy the filename to scan data field. The copy fields script is the closest thing, but doesn't do file names.

I could easily make a simple script for that if you want, but I would recommend to use the Priat script for that... It would be much easier than to install a script only for that, and you can personalize what you want to do and not just copy the entire filename...

If you want to save the scanner info, there are also some good scripts that copy that info from the name to the scanner field (which is for that)

Here, I made this script that do what you want... I still think it is a bit silly to do a script for this, but it works XD

(it has only a pair of lines XD)

File Attachment:

File Name: CopyFileName.crplugin
File Size:1 KB

Install it, restart Comicrack, select the books you want to modified, second button, automation, CopyFileName and it will copy the filename to a custom value called Filename XD

Thanks, Xelloss... I hadn't stopped by for a few days, so didn't realize you had posted this. It sounds like it will be exactly what I am looking for.

When I run this, where do I find the custom field where it was copied? I'm looking in the info dialog box and I don't see any place for custom info.

There is a tab for them in info but you need to turn them on:

Preferences > Behavior > Application > Show custom book fields
