Hello

I organize my library with diferents universes and his chonology (Example: Ultimate Universe, Star wars Universe, Witchblade Darkness Universe .....), i use the Story Arc field to represent the Chronology and i start with the Number of order and the name of this part of Chronology. I don't use the alternate series because this field in many cases have more than one value (Comic Vine Scrapper find more that one) and in other cases because a big "alternate series" like Dark Reing could be divided in diferents moments of the Chronology and i use the alternate number only in case i need to order comics of diferent series that make part of the same chonology.

Examples of chrnology of Ultimate marvel Universe:
001. Ultimate Spider-Man #1-7 - Power & Responsibility
002. Ultimate Marvel Team-Up #1-3
003. Ultimate Spider-Man #8-13 - Learning Curve
004. Ultimate Marvel Team-Up #4-8
005. Ultimate X-Men #1-6, #0.5 - The Tomorrow People
006. Ultimate Spider-Man #14-21 - Double Trouble
007. Ultimate Daredevil & Elektra
008. Ultimate Elektra - Devil's Due
009. Ultimate Marvel Team-Up #9-16
010. Ultimate X-Men #7-15
011. The Ultimates #1-6 - Super Human
012. Ultimate X-Men #16-20 - World Tour
013. Ultimate Spider-Man (#22-27, Special, #28-32)
* This have in the alternate number 1 to 6 for the #22-27, 7 for the special and 8 to 12 for the #28-32
014. The Ultimates #7-13 - Homeland Security
015. Ultimate Spider-Man #33-39 - Venom
016. Ultimate X-Men #21-25 - Hellfire and Brimstone
017. Ultimate War
018. Ultimate X-Men #26-33 - Return of the King

All this comics have in the imprint filed "Ultimate Universe"

I read the comics only in my ipad, and i want that syncronize in the cronology order, for example only the firts 50 and only the unread. i configure the list for the ipad with the order check box uncheked, limit to 50 books and only unread

If I make a smart list only with the filter imprint = "Ultimate Universe" the make the list with any order and then i can't syncronize correctly in the ipad.

the most close i could do is make the smart list in this way

in this way order by the Story Arc only but all the comics of the same Story Arc have a aleatory order and i can't see the Alternate Number in the ipad

If you could add options to order the smart list i ccould make a smart list with the imprint = "Ultimate Universe" and order by Story Arc, Alternate Number, Number (in the cases not alternate number was defined)

The way I do this kind of thing is to use a normal list not a smart list.

Make sure they are in order of position, (if you place Position to the left of your view you can move the files into place).

Then in the devices sync settings you don't sort the comics.

Finally in the iPad dont sort them either.

I do this.

This is fine when you make only a list of a saga a few comics, but when you have a Chronolgy for an entire universe don't have sense.
Marvel Ultimate Universe have more that 500 comics and when you make a chronology you can change in the time
Withcblade Darkness Universe more than 400 comics

the need of order the smart list is only for Synchronise with a device, because if you read in CRW you can order or pile without problem. This is a problem of the limit option to Synchronise the devices

Another solution is put multiple options to order the list you want Synchronise, and int the options of limit say if you what that limit by order or not

Ah, well I think chronologies like that are a bit artificial. I would rather read long runs like that in the order they were published.

But, I figured the OP was asking how to do it without using alt numbering. If not, he now has two ways to try.

The main trick is to not order them at all in the iPad but instead to rely on the ordering that is imposed in CRWin.

Other Option Could Be:
In CRW add the option to order the list you want Synchronise by "Story Arc", and int the options of limit say if you what that limit by order or not (This is bucause i read if order and limit is checked the sync process copy a few items of each group order, and for this case we don't need this.)

In CRIOS
1.- Add the option to Stack by "Story Arc"
2.- Add the option to Order By "Story Arc"
3.- Add In the information of Comic the "Alt Number" and show in the Tiles option view (the second of the 3 options of view)
4.- Add the option to Order By "Alt Number, becasue when order by "Story Line" only do if a "Story Line" was defined, and in many cases comics of the same part of a Chronology don't have it

if the 4 point it's not posible, i could gruop and order by "Story Arc" in the first level and in the deep lever put the Tiles option view and check the info (Assuming Point 1 to 3 was implemented)

I'll add sorting by Story Arc to the next release.
It will sort in the following order:
Story Arc->Alternate Number->Series->Published

Hello cYo, a few questions

1. You will add in CRW to sync the files?
2. If Yes #1, If i put a limit of 50 comics and only unread, CRW sync the first 50 files unread in the order "Story Arc->Alternate Number->Series->Published" and don´t take a little of each series like happend when i chosse the Series Order?
3. You will add in CRIOS the order for StoryArc too ?
