Freak Angels Webcomic

People not following the daily Q&As and development messages in the User Forum may have missed the new WebComic feature. WebComics allow you to read eComics published on web pages directly in ComicRack.

So here is Freak Angels, over 600 pages of Warren Ellis at his best. Simply download and open with ComicRack.

ComicRack 0.9.124 released

This release has two main areas of enhancement.

Network Shares can now define a quality for the shared eComics (this can greatly reduce the required bandwidth). Also there's a new Network Statistics Window to get an overview ofwhat is actually going on with your server.

The Plugin engine has been extended with the possibility to write information panel plugins (HTML or UI coded). Info panels can be used to display additional information for selected eComics or add new specialized editors. See the new samples in sample.py. Also if script packages are named .crplugin, they can be directly installed from within Explorer.

As always, a bunch of bug fixes completes this release.

ComicRack 0.9.123 released

1.. 2.. 3.. ComicRack is here :)

This is mainly a bug fix release with some small improvements.
I turned some of the multi-core optimizations introduced in 0.9.122 off by default as they seem to have caused problems for some users. You can always turn them on again in ComicRack.ini (your mileage may vary depending on your machine).

If you use the automatic scanner and have a, let's say, creative folder structure or you don't want to add the comics describing the hardship of Japanese schoolgirls automatically to the library, it is now possible to fine tune the scanner by putting comicrackscanner.ini files into folders. This way you can tell the scanner exactly what to do (ignore this folder, ignore sub folders).

This release also adds the Czech language pack.

Translators needed

ComicRack comes bundled with some language packs.

The problem is, that some of these have not been updated for quite some time and are really falling out of sync with the application. So if you think you're up to the task to update one of these abandoned packs follow these steps.

Bad Packs

If you're using a language ComicRack does currently not support (and is not a right to left language), you can also add a new pack. ComicRack users in your local will thank you and praise your name :)

ComicRack 0.9.122 released

So finally here it is: the new ComicRack with multi-touch support. The usual gestures do the usual things (as shown in the video). Double tap toggles the navigation overlay, press and tap toggles the magnifier.

Smaller changes are: Tile view now supports stacking and the meta data has been extended with a Locations and Teams field.

This version also marks the transition to .NET 4, so the installer may update your local .NET installation to this version. As there are quite a lot of changes under the hood, some bugs may have crept in. Report your bugs here and your general comments about this version here.

If you like ComicRack, please consider making a donation (you can also donate multiple times btw :)). This project needs your continuing support to keep it running.

As always,
have fun

ComicRack 0.9.122 running on Windows 7

I did a quick demo video with my webcam showing off the upcoming multi-touch user interface for ComicRack.Just imagine using this on one of the upcoming touch tablets. Sorry for the bad image quality, but a webcam is only a webcam :)
