I noticed this in Pending Tasks when browsing someone's shared Library.

When you set View to Stack by Series it should only create one thumbnail per stack, but instead it still downloads and creates thumbnails for all the files inside the stack. It may be more suitable for local Libraries but for big Remote Libraries it can create a lot of unnecessary traffic.

When I loaded shared library it was in Thumbnail view so I quickly stacked by series and checked pending tasks dialog. Tasks for creating all thumbnails were still going so I assumed what I wrote in first post.

But after a while I entered some Stack and only first thumbnail was created and other just started to download.

So that could be a false alarm on my side. Sorry.

Still worth tweaking abit more perhaps. The initial concern with ComicRack loading abunch of thumbnails in a remote library still holds water, even if the layout was initially set as as non stacked and ComicRack automatically started downloading abunch of covers (a behavior which is AOK in a local library, but maybe not so desirable in a Remote)

I can't think of a perfect solution myself honestly. There are a couple possible I can think of.

1) Make it an option or a default action for ComicRack not to automatically load thumbnails when viewing remote library's

2) Make it so when viewing Remote Library's YOUR default layout is the one used (problem with this is then you don't get to see the sorting the owner of the Remote Library wanted/uses without switching around)

3)Make is so the default quility of thumbnails downloaded off a remote server is reduced ( say 30-40 instead of the default 60) I have no idea if that would honestly speed things up or not, as ComicRack still has to parse the cover.

I keep my Library in Stacked mode, and as such people viewing my remote get it in stacked, however even stacked they are greeted by a massive stream of downloads for thumbnails I would imagine. If I kept it unstacked I'm sure navigating around would be that much more of a pain (on my upload bandwidth and on their download speed from my library)

I'm think of some quality settings on the server side - but this would be some burden for the host CPU (scaling/re-saving etc).

In general, thumbnails are only downloaded once as they are cached on the client side.
