I figured I'd start a thread about the storylines/runs that captivated me over the years.
X-Tinction Agenda Atlantis Attacks Todd McFarlane's run on Amazing Spider-man Jim Lee's run on Uncanny X-Men Onslaught storyline Frank Miller's run on Daredevil Joe Quesada's run on Daredevil Fatal Attraction Thanos Quest and Infinity Gauntlet Ron Lim's run on Silver Surfer original Punisher mini-series by Mike Zeck Mike Zeck's run on Captain America Secret Wars saga Adam Kubert's runs on Incredible Hulk and Wolverine Erik Larson's runs on Amazing Spider-man Chris Claremont & John Bryne's run on Uncanny X-Men Bob Layton's run on Iron Man Mark Bright's run on Iron Man

That's just off the top of my head. As you can see, I was a big fan of artist more than writers when I first started with comics. Though, I loved the writing during those runs just as much. I just just can't remember the spelling of most of the writers.

Chris Claremonts original run on X-Men (especialy with Dave Cocrum & John Byrne)
Stan Lee & Jack Kyrby on Fantastic Four
Alan Moore on Swamp Thing
The complete Sandman stories by Neil Gaiman
Jim Shooters original Legion stories
Fables
Stan Lee on Spider-Man
Roy Thomas run on the Conan titles
Roy Thomas & Steve Engleharts runs on Avengers
Most of Marv Wolfman & George Perez run on Teen Titans
Marv Wolfman and George Perez on Tomb of Dracula
Stan Lee and John Buscema on Silver Surfer
Neal Adams run on Green Lantern/Green Arrow & his Batman

edit: forgot Alan Moore's run on Supreme.

Moore's Supreme brought me back to Comics after my childhood days

It was in the short heydays in the mid nineties when American Comics where actually SOLD in stores here in Austria...

In the mainstream I usually like whenever Morrision, Ellis or the master himself MILLAR (anyone remember his Authority run ) takes the helm.

Just now Millar's run on Ultimate Comics: Avengers brought a smile to my face. That's how I like super hero comics. Bad ass and intelligent, but still with action.

One of my all-time favorite storylines was the "Siege of Avengers Mansion" by Roger Stern, John Buscema and Tom Palmer from Avengers #273-277 back in 80's.

There are a ton of other great ones, but as a kid, that one just blew me away.

I remember that storyline well! It was one of the best Marvel stories! Hercules gettin his butt handed to him...'nuff said!

Excellent thread!

Some of my favorites include

Age of Apocalypse
Inferno
Dark Phoenix saga
Busiek & Nord's run on Conan
Infinity Gauntlet
Fall of the Mutants
Strangers in Paradise
Fables
Acts of Vengeance
Ultimates Vol 1

I'm sure there are dozens of others but I usually come back to these and read them over and over.

I can think of tons, including several that have already been mentioned.
I absolutely have to single out Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane, though, because IT NEVER GETS ANY LOVE. D:

Interesting...is it a story arc or a series?

There were two 4 issue limited series (Mary Jane and Mary Jane: Homecoming) and then the ongoing, which ran for 20-something issues. (There was another 5 issue limited last year but it was HORRIBLE, sadly.)

It's uh...think Spider-Man meets generic high-school sitcom. It's stupid and childish as a concept but Sean McKeever's writing is sooooo good that it's very readable no matter who you are. And it's a nice change of pace from RAWR EXPLOSIONS GODS ALIENS KABOOM
