TOPIC: Can't browse local folders any more
#8908
Can't browse local folders any more 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Something strange happens to me: I can't brwose my local folders (c:, d:, ...) any more.

I'm pretty sure it worked some time ago, but now when I swith to the folders tab, the "Computer" icon is empty: I can click the + sign left to it, but then the "+" disappears and nothing is expanded. I only see my profile folders, and some other system folders (config panel...)

I tried to reinstall everything (last ComicRack release, .net libraries), erased the config.xml. Nothing.

For the record, I use Windows7 64bits in French, I have Admin rights, and I can't see what could have changed in my configuration.

I have another machine, with Windows XP, that works perfectly. But on my main machine, I can ony use the library tab to access my comics.

Any idea?

Thanks.

That is really bizarre. I haven't a clue. The only thing I can suggest is to try and reinstall ComicRack, which you've said you have already done.

Sorry

Have you tried running a registry scanner? I use TuneUP utilites, but I'm sure you can find some free registry fix tools. Maybe something screwed the registry up?

I dream of the day cYo blesses us with MusicRack - CR's little brother who manages mp3s the same way ComicRack handles eComics..

Well, I'd suggest to uninstall CR, delete the remaining folders (in your user folder, search for one named cYo and just delete it), search in your registry for anything containing cYo or comicrack (but check what you're removing first, otherwise, you could delete something you shouldn't have) and reinstall... It's the good old clean reinstall.

But first, backup your actual database using the following path in CR (if you've got of course...):
Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Database Backup > Backup Database...

OK, real clean uninstall, and reinstall, as you suggested. No change.

I still can not access my local disks. This is really strange.

Any other idea?

By the way, I noticed that in the config.xml file, there is a line missing, when I compare to my other machine:
<LastExplorerFolder>C:\</LastExplorerFolder>

But of course, if I try to add it and relaunch CR, I still don't see the drive, and the line is not written back to the config file.

Curiouser and curiouser. Heeeeelp!

SOLVED!

CR mixes up with the Mozy Backup virtual drive.

By default, Mozy registers a virtual drive where you can view your backed-up files.

I just ran the config for Mozy, remove the virtual drive, and voila. CR have access to the local drives again.

So I guess that it should be registered as a bug for CR.

Anyway, problem solved.

Thanks to everyone who had a look at it.
